Appearing now a the George Bush Presidential Library & Museum is the exhibit, Beyond the Moon: NASA's Continuing Mission. The Museum at the George Bush Presidential Library and the LBJ Presidential Library and Museum, in partnership with Space Center Houston, tells the story of America's exploration into the final frontier. The LBJ Library will begin with man's fascination with the heavens through man's first steps on the moon during the historic flight of Apollo 11.
The George Bush Presidential Library & Museum continues this momentous journey with Apollo 12 through the current shuttle missions. Beyond the Moon: NASA's Continuing Mission focuses on Skylab, Apollo-Soyuz, the Space Shuttle, and the International Space Station. Feel the rumble of a space shuttle's engines as you are immersed in a multimedia launch experience.
As part of the exhibit, the Donruss Trading Card Company has created an 18-card limited edition set honoring several of these space missions. Branded under the company's line of Americana products, the card fronts feature a full color photograph, while the back gives a brief description of the mission. These collectibles will be available while supplies last in the gift shop.
These exhibits will get you up close and personal with artifacts and actual flight hardware. Gaze overhead at the star field projected on the ceiling and lose yourself in the heavens. See the newest and most spectacular imagery from the Chandra X-ray and Hubble Space Telescopes updated daily. Visitors will experience interactive simulations that include driving the Mars Rover, a NASA Mission Planner, piloting a shuttle launch, Space Station docking, and video Q & A with active and retired astronauts. Meet Klingons, Ferengi and the dreaded Borg, learn the ways of the Force as the Bush Museum explores the pop culture phenomenon of science fiction with artifacts and costumes from Star Trek and Star Wars.
The Museum at the George Bush Presidential Library hours are Monday - Saturday, 9:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Sundays from 12:00 until 5:00 p.m. Admission for the Born to Play Ball is $7.00 for adults, $6.00 for senior citizens 62+ and active and retired military with ID, as well as groups of 20 or more with advance reservations. Children 6 and older are $3.00; TAMU and Blinn College students as well as children under 6 are free.
