John Wayne to Star in Donruss Americana Products

Arlington, TX - Donruss Trading Cards and John Wayne Enterprises have partnered to include the iconic American actor in its Americana-themed trading card products.

Having earned an Oscar as Best Actor for True Grit (1969), John Wayne embodied the American spirit for multiple generations and was the leading man in many epic American western and war films including The Alamo (1960), Sands of Iwo Jima (1950) and The Green Berets (1968) where he portrayed one of "America's best."

"We can't think of a more appropriate fit than having John Wayne in Donruss Americana," said Donruss Marketing Director Scott Prusha. "In the truest sense of the word, John Wayne is an American hero."

John Wayne will also be featured on packaging for Donruss Americana II.

The Duke's first card appearance comes in Donruss Americana Celebrity Cuts, where he will be included in both the Hollywood Icons insert sets. Some of those cards will also carry swatches of material from a personally worn shirt and coat. Donruss will also include two John Wayne cut autograph cards in the Celebrity Cuts insert. That product was scheduled to ship the third week of April.

Donruss Americana II, scheduled for an August release, will include a John Wayne card in the Hollywood Legends insert and will include material cards.
