The Wait Is Over: National Treasures Live Next Week!
January 25, 2008

After a monstrous debut, the reigning Product of the Year returns next week. Playoff National Treasures will feature more unique high-end autographs and game-used cards than any program in history. The old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" does not apply. After taking home about every hobby award given out in '06, Donruss listen to collectors feedback and made it even better this time around!

"We knew we could not just sit on the success (National) Treasures had in '06," said Senior Football Brand Manager Ben Ecklar. "The super high-end market is very competitive and we listened to collector's feedback and made '07 even better."

One of those requests was for on-card autographs...and that's just what Donruss did. The Rookie Cards will be serial-numbered to 99 and feature a LARGE swatch of multi-color material. Each rookie was sent their cards and they signed the 99 copies, along with parallels, on-card. Also appearing in the on-card category are the popular Pen Pals and Notable Nicknames inserts.

"Collectors also told us they wanted to see more autographs," adds Ecklar. "We guarantee at least three of the cards in the box will come autographed by the top past and present NFL players, along with some of the most recognized historical figures of all-time."

Last year, Donruss exhausted all sources and spent countless hours acquiring and authenticating the most significant group of cut signatures ever assembled. The boys did it again this year, digging up signatures from historic figures such as Rose Kennedy, Rosa Parks, A.C. Goodyear, Alexander Cartwright, August Bush, Jr. and Adolf Coors, Jr.; as well as presidents Gerald Ford, Richard Nixon and Benjamin Harrison.

Collectors can also find the first autograph and memorabilia cards of Hall of Famers Tom Landry (Donruss acquired both a game-used jersey and sideline worn coat), Ken Strong, Mel Hein, Tommy McDonald, Bob Waterfield, Tom Fears, Night Train Lane, Jim Parker, Norm Van Brocklin, Ollie Matson, Marion Motley and Willie Lanie.

"We are the only company that listens to collectors, incorporating their ideas to help make our products better, including one such as National Treasures," said Ecklar. "We are the collectors company."

National Treasures comes in a unique, wooden box with each containing seven cards. Each wooden box will be packaged with six autograph or memorabilia cards and one common or parallel. This group of current NFL Stars, retired legends, deceased Hall of Famers, historical figures and presidents will be the best anyone in the industry has delivered in one product to date...or until we do it all again next year!

Playoff National Treasures will go live January 30th with a suggested retail price of $500 per wooden box.

Donruss Playoff is no stranger to setting the standard in the industry. During 2003 and 2004, Donruss made headlines by introducing the industry to the first super high-end programs with Donruss Timeless Treasures and Playoff Prime Cuts. So it was no surprise that they would eventually redefine the way that super-premium products were produced and the idea of National Treasures was born.
