It was announced today that Minnesota Vikings running back, Adrian Peterson, was voted the AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Peterson exploded onto the scene and helped the Vikings climb back into playoff contention. He lead the NFL in rushing for most of the season, but injuries allowed LaDainian Tomlinson to jump ahead of him. AP finished second to LT and the year with 1,341 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns in just 14 games.
Peterson didn't get the starting job until week six, a week after he put up 224 yards and three touchdowns against the Bears. He had the NFL buzzing with his amazing start and people speculating the former Sooner could break Eric Dickerson's rookie yards mark with 1,808.
He peaked during week nine, rushing his way into the record books with career day against the San Diego Chargers. Peterson took the ball 30 times and finished with the following stat line:
30 Carries - 296 Rushing Yards - 3 Touchdowns - 1 Catch - 19 Receiving Yards
Peterson has been the top RC to collect in any sport for 2007 and nobody has come close in recent years to creating the hobby buzz "All Day" is generating.
Donruss has created this limited edition trading card of Peterson to commemorate his amazing year. The card will be available to collectors visiting this year's Super Bowl Experience in Phoenix, AZ.
