This week, Donruss sheds some light on the unparalleled roster of television superstars featured in the product, which releases Jan. 9.
Those of us who, at one time or another, have been perplexed by exactly who shot J.R. will certainly celebrate the fact that J.R. himself is in Donruss Americana. Indeed, decorated actor Larry Hagman, who played notorious oil baron J.R. Ewing in "Dallas" as well as Anthony Nelson in "I Dream of Jeannie" appears in Americana as both personas, including on an autograph card with "Jeannie" co-star Barbara Eden.
But Hagman represents just the tip of the iceberg. The Americana checklist is a veritable Who's Who of Hollywood's elite, most of whom are making their first trading card appearances ever.
"Every name that's mentioned in Americana is an icon," says Donruss marketing director Scott Prusha. "The opportunity to create the first trading cards of these legends is incredibly unique and we're incredibly excited.
"These are arguably the most collected figures in the world. To be able to provide this huge collector base with these types of items is remarkable. To not have trading cards and memorabilia cards and cut autograph cards for all this time and now having them is truly amazing."
Following is a glimpse of the star-studded list of TV superstars slated for starring roles in Donruss Americana:
* Hagman, John Travolta, Burt Reynolds, William Shatner & Leonard Nimoy (Star Trek), Adam West & Burt Ward (Batman), Ed O'Neill & Katy Sagal (Married With Children), Catherine Bach, Lee Majors, Morgan Fairchild and even the rare signer Russell Johnson from Giligan's Island.
