Some thought Michael Phelps might be looking ahead to the Olympics next year in Beijing, but that was clearly not the case when the world championships ended this past week in Melbourne. Phelps left a historic mark on the games, leaving few left to question that he's the greatest swimmer ever to hit the water.
Phelps ended the weekend tying a record with seven gold medals. If not for a mishap by the US team in the medley, he would have re-written the records books as the only person to win a total of eight. Not only did he win seven medals, he broke five world records.
"This was one of the most dominant performances we've ever seen by a swimmer," said Donruss Playoff Marketing Director Scott Prusha. "If he puts up those numbers next year in China, it might go down as the greatest Olympic performance in history."
The ONLY certified autograph cards of Michael Phelps were included in 2004 Leaf Rookies and Stars.
